Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic variety earned her acclaim in a variety of genres ranging from period drama to action and thriller. Johansson was raised within New York City as the daughter an architect and a production company. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. From a young age she discovered a love for performing and started auditioning commercials at the age of seven. The passion for acting developed quickly, and she was soon after in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. In the year she turned eight old, Johansson starred alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in an Off-Broadway show. At the age of nine she made her acting debut in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was later seen as a character in Just Cause (1995), however, her breakthrough came with Manny & Lo a coming of age film about sisters running away. After that, she earned critical praise for portraying a teenage girl who had suffered an accident that left her damaged in The Horse Whisperer (1998). Her popularity grew with the film Ghost World (2002) as the outcast cynical Rebecca. She took part in different projects throughout the USA in the midst of making her stage debut. She attended The Stonestreet Studios Conservatory part of the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts'.
